Established Luxury Private Gated Development across 4,000 acres of rolling pine forest fronting onto Lake Keowee
The project was conceived over 20 years ago by a visionary from Greenville, South Carolina, U.S., who recognised the potential to acquire a significant land holding from the energy company that owned vast tracts of land around Lake Kewoee, and the project was born. An additional land acquisition subsequently took the total project site to approximately 4,000 acres of which approximately 1,800 acres remains developable. The project benefitted from consents that were in place for 1,400 units of luxury residential and all other components of a very well considered mix-use scheme, including a village core designed by the renowned Keith Summerour. Over 100 shareholder positions were acquired for a complete 100% acquisition of the project and all its assets in a complex transaction over 12 months. The project included an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course and a marina with over 280 slips. A recent investment programme created a six new pickleball courts adjacent to the gymnasium, to complement the tennis club with its four tennis courts. An initial concept was formed for a new Rafa Nadal tennis center with a further ten clay tennis courts, and stage 1 design for a new golf course on the second 18-hole golf course originally designed by Arnold Palmer. Over €1.5bn of real estate was already built within the project and a further 70 private homes were under construction. Plans were implemented for new access to the lake from internal lot owners not owning private docks. A deal to integrate a further land parcel into the project was advanced to create an additional contiguous project area on the waterfront. A preferred builder program was designed by the new sales team.
